Available Positions
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, interpret, and summarize content of legal documents, oil and gas leases, and other ownership records
- Follow search guidelines that adhere to scope of work and deliver complete and accurate reports accordingly
- Perform title examination and assess chain of title for conveyances, outsales, or other relevant activity
- Abstract and analyze records such as mortgages, tax records, liens, judgments, easements, and maps to determine ownership and legal restrictions of assigned property
- Verify legal description of property and create property and well maps to clarify scope of search
- Collaborate with project manager and abstracting team to communicate project risks and issues
- Research and resolve gaps in records such as missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information and assess errors and omissions
- Gather, organize, and analyze title documents, heirship information, oil and gas data and well maps
- Research and provide documentation of leases, rights-of-way, joint ventures, and other types of land or oil and gas agreements
- Utilize research tools such as courthouse records, online databases, or internal archive records to obtain relevant information to support scope of work
- Prepare title and mineral ownership reports
- Consult with landowners on land and leasing matters
- Prepare and execute lease agreements
- Support other complex land projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant land experience in Appalachian region
- Familiarity with deed plotter and chain of title software
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
- Ability to work under pressure and celebrate success
- RPL and JD Preferred
- AAPL/MLBC memberships preferred
